Glenn W. Taggart, age 89, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, at his home. Glenn was born in Appleton on March 2, 1928. On September 16, 1948, he was united in marriage to Margaret Wittmann at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Darboy. The couple enjoyed 65 years together until her passing in 2013.
Glenn worked in the paper industry from the day he got out of high school until his retirement in 1992. He was Director of Manufacturing at what was originally Kimberly Clark, then Midtec, and Repap. He was a self-taught carpet and tile installer while he worked full time. After retirement, his passion became building a storage facility on a parcel at the Catherine Wittmann Farm in Darboy, where he continued to grow and harvest vegetables. He also enjoyed having family visit while wintering in North Fort Myers.
Glenn will be missed by his six sons: Jim Taggart, Oconto Falls, Art (Laura) Taggart, Madison, Tom Taggart, Oshkosh, Joe Taggart, Appleton, Tim (Barb) Taggart, Appleton, and Bob (Cynde) Taggart, Appleton; 7 grandchildren: Katherine, Sarah, Theresa, Leah, Laura, John, and Jamie; 7 great grandchildren: Molly, Josie, Evan, Emily, Olivia, Isla, and Samantha. He is further survived by his sister-in-law Joyce Wittmann, Darboy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret, a brother John Taggart, and 2 sisters: Jane and Mary.
A funeral service will take place at 12:30 pm on Saturday, September 2, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel with Father Jon Thorsen officiating. Friends and relatives may visit at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 11 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
