Don F. Lavering, age 86, of Appleton, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, with his daughter Patti by his side, after a brief battle with cancer. Don was born in Sheboygan on December 8, 1929 to the late Francis and Adeline (Kronser) Lavering. From the age of four, he was raised by the late Agnes and Herb Goellner. Don was married to Rosemary Burke for 37 years. She preceded him in death in 1994. Don worked at WE Energies for 32 years, retiring in 1992. He loved watching the Packers and the Indy 500.
He is survived by his daughter, Patti Lavering, Superior; sister, Patricia (Richard) Pechotta, Appleton; sister-in-law, Catherine Burke, Menasha; and brother-in-law, Paul Burke. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Rita (Bill) Quinn, brother, John (Helen) Goellner, and 4 brothers-in-law: Jack (Joan) Burke, Deacon William Burke, Jerry Burke, and Dennis Burke.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, August 13, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton, with Father Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends and relatives may visit at the church on Saturday from 9:30 until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Affinity Hospice, 816 Winneconne Ave. Neenah, WI 54956.
